All bike locks can be defeated by a motivated thief with proper tools, technique, and time. OTTOLOCK cinch locks provide an appropriate “quick stop” level of defense against many forms of attack — not any and all tools.

The design intent of cinch locks is to provide a lightweight, compact, easy-to-carry solution to prevent opportunistic theft during quick stops like getting coffee, snacks, or restroom breaks. Many stolen bikes are taken when unlocked, and the OTTOLOCK cinch locks provide a convenient option with next to no weight penalty.

* OTTO does not claim an OTTOLOCK cinch is unable to be cut. A cinch lock is not a replacement for a U-Lock. For higher-crime areas or longer lock-ups, we recommend redundant locking with a SIDEKICK or a quality U-lock. You're responsible for determining your own level of risk based on your location and how long you'll be away from your bike.
