Our Story

The Beginning and Today

The original “cinch lock” product concept was conceived in 2016 by business-minded cyclists and innovators in a coffee shop. The company, OTTO DesignWorks LLC, was then formed after a successful crowdfunding campaign proved the need for a lightweight, compact quick-stop lock. OttoLock has won many awards for its best-in-class design ranging from Bicycling Magazine to Popular Mechanics.

We’re proud to have created this new, convenient-security category. The cinch lock is often referred to as a coffee shop lock or a pocket lock, and has many use cases extending from stopping for snacks to bike-packing to other outdoor market needs.

Our patented cinch locks are thoughtfully engineered and put through rigorous testing to meet OttoLock's security standards. Since launching the brand, OttoLock has sold over 300,000 cinch locks to customers world-wide.

We’ve since expanded the brand to offer a full range of portable locks designed to fit many needs. With the addition of our SIDEKICK U-Locks and Folding Locks, we now provide many security solutions — a lock for every stop.
